Goyang City is pushing forward a regional specialty beekeeping demonstration project utilizing the ecological resources of the Janghang Wetland to find a new source of income for beekeeping farms facing difficulties due to the reduction of nectar sources and abnormal temperatures. The city plans to verify the nectar value of the willow clusters in the Janghang Wetland that bloom in March and April next year and explore the possibility of producing high-quality honey through the demonstration project. According to research results from the Goyang Agricultural Technology Center, willow honey has been analyzed to have higher levels of antioxidant components such as phenolic compounds and flavonoids compared to acacia honey. Its productivity has also been confirmed to have sufficient value as a nectar source. To ensure smooth project implementation, the city received approval from the Ministry of Environment in July to exempt certain activities within the wetland protection area. ...
