In 22 weeks since the start of the current agricultural season, which began on July 1st, the European Union member states have increased the export of cereals to third countries by over 14% to 16,850,548 tons, according to data from the European Commission. The main growth in supplies to third countries was recorded in durum wheat (by 305% to 938,508 tons) and barley (by 119% to 4,441,807 tons). However, the EU executive is currently investigating the unusually large quantities of durum wheat exported from Romania in the 2025-2026 season. The main customers for EU-produced barley since the start of the season are Saudi Arabia with 971,000 tons, China with 879,800 tons, Jordan with 521,800 tons, and Turkey with 392,900 tons. However, the rest of the grain has seen a decline in exports from the EU, more moderate in soft wheat and significantly pronounced in maize.
