Bulgarian consumers are eating bread made from low-quality Ukrainian grain infected with pathogens, according to Radoslav Hristov, a former chairman of the National Association of Grain Producers. The import of Ukrainian grain has a negative impact on the prices of wheat in Bulgaria and competes with high-quality Bulgarian grain, leading to unsold goods in warehouses and potential bankruptcy for Bulgarian grain producers. There are concerns about the quality of imported Ukrainian sunflower and the increase in the cost of agricultural fertilizers, exacerbating the situation for Bulgarian farmers.
