Michoacán is experiencing a good grapefruit production season, with a 4% increase in the first ten months of the year, making it the second-largest producer in Mexico. The state has produced 70,720 tons of grapefruit across 4,891 hectares, with a yield of 14.45 tons per hectare. The municipalities of Múgica and Parácuaro contribute 70% of the state's production. The department of Sustainable Agriculture and the cultivation of biological agents to control pests have played a significant role in improving both the quality and quantity of the fruit. Grapefruit, rich in vitamin C and low in calories, is exported to seven countries, including France, Holland, Poland, Japan, and Canada, with an economic benefit of 206 million pesos last year.
