Olive producers in Greece receive a postponement: mandatory declarations will come into effect from October 2026.

According to a statement by the Deputy Minister of Rural Development, Mr. Yanis Andrianos, the mandatory implementation of olive harvest declarations, introduced by Ministerial Decree of March 21, 2025, is postponed to the next olive growing season, which begins on October 1, 2026. The obligation to submit declarations stems from EU and Greek legislation in order to protect the production and commercial chain, prevent unfair practices, and ensure the quality and safety of olive oil. During the pilot implementation of the measure in several regional units, especially in areas with intensive olive cultivation, technical problems arose in updating the olive registry.
