In 2023, Germany saw a 6 percent decrease in greenhouse vegetable production, dropping to 10,900 tons. This was largely due to a significant reduction in tomato cultivation, which saw a 5 percent decrease in cultivation area and a 12 percent decrease in harvest, yielding around 9,700 tons. Despite this, cucumber cultivation doubled, taking up about 2 hectares of greenhouse space. Other vegetables such as peppers, lettuce, radish, eggplant, and green beans were also cultivated.
