The saffron harvest in North-Eastern Bulgaria is delayed due to drought, necessitating extra watering for bulb growth. Fatme Ramadan, a local producer with 32 decares of saffron, is expanding her cosmetic product line and seeking more raw materials. The Bulgarian Saffron Growers Association, comprising 49 members and 100 decares of crocus cultivation, is exploring climate research and market expansion, including products like saffron cheese and iced tea. Bulgarian saffron is priced between BGN 10 and 30 per gram, with production typically on small plots.
