Volyn region in Ukraine is promoting the cultivation of Jerusalem artichoke as a profitable crop and eco-friendly alternative fuel source. The plant's stem can be harvested for biofuel in just a year, and the upper part can be used to improve community heat supply services. The lower part of the plant can be sold for a good price to the "Jerusalem artichoke" Center. The stem is also used to make high-density briquettes for heating private houses and pellets used as animal bedding. These pellets do not acidify the soil and decompose quickly.
