In August 2024, Vietnam saw a significant increase in pangasius exports, with a 12% year-on-year increase reaching nearly $191 million. The first eight months of the year also saw a 9% increase in total pangasius exports, reaching nearly $1.3 billion. There was a notable rise in the exports of value-added pangasius products, with a 75% increase in August 2024 and a 38% increase in the first eight months of the year. The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) bloc, led by Australia, showed a strong interest in these value-added products. The United States also experienced a significant increase in imports of these products since the beginning of 2024. Thailand, the UK, the Netherlands, China, and Hong Kong were among the major importers of these products, indicating a successful diversification strategy by Vietnamese seafood businesses.
