China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, Ambassador Guang Defu, recently visited the Assisi to Spoleto olive grove project in Trevi, Italy, to inspect it as a part of the Globally Important Agricultural Cultural Heritage System (GIAHS). The project, recognized by FAO in 2018, is known for its sustainable olive terrace farming system and is the first of its kind in Italy. The visit aimed to explore potential cooperation between China and Italy in the GIAHS project, with a focus on food and livelihood security, agricultural biodiversity, and cultural heritage preservation.
