[Korea Farmers' News Agency, Reporter Lee Jang-hee] The Gyeonggi Agricultural Technology Institute (Director Sung Je-hoon) has been drawing attention as it has signed international joint research agreements with Wageningen University in the Netherlands and the U.S. Department of Agriculture to develop technologies suitable for the agricultural environment of Gyeonggi Province and introduce advanced agricultural technologies, and has begun to push forward with the projects. The joint research with the Netherlands, "Development of a Smart Farm-based Optimal Growth Model for Horticultural Crops," utilizes the strengths of the Netherlands, which, despite having a small land area and insufficient sunlight, is the world's second-largest agricultural export country and is considered a leading nation in smart farming. The research content includes △establishing unique indicators for estimating crop yields △optimizing leaf area index and fruit-to-leaf ratio based on light intensity.
