The USDA's Foreign Market Service has released optimistic forecasts for the global production of major oilseed crops in the 2025/26 marketing year, projecting an increase of 15 million tons from the previous year, totaling 692 million tons. This anticipated rise is attributed to expected increases in the production of soybeans, sunflower seeds, and rapeseed by 6 million tons, 4 million tons, and 4.5 million tons respectively. The surge in sunflower seed production is largely due to anticipated good harvests in Russia, Ukraine, and the EU, with Russia expected to achieve a record harvest of 17.50 million tons. The EU's expected recovery in rapeseed production, following a poor harvest in 2024/25, is also noteworthy. Additionally, global vegetable oil production is projected to grow by 3% in the 2025/26 marketing year, reaching nearly 235 million tonnes.
