A severe outbreak of highly pathogenic Avian Influenza (AI) of the H5N1 type has been reported at a laying hen farm in Yeoju-si, Gyeonggi-do, marking the 16th such incident at a poultry farm this winter. The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters has ordered the culling of 69,000 chickens and the inspection of 27 nearby farms, with plans to assess the quarantine situation in certain regions from the 27th until January 10th. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has emphasized the importance of quarantine measures and compliance with the temporary movement suspension order, especially given that Gyeonggi-do hosts a significant portion of the country's laying hens.
