Chinese imports of beef—both chilled and frozen—marked a historic high in volume in September 2025, with 316,000 tons of product weight, for a total value of US$ 1,740 million, according to data from the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) released by Informe Ganadero. This represents a 45% increase in volume from the 218,000 tons imported in September 2024. Brazil and Argentina were the main drivers of the monthly increase, consolidating their key role as suppliers to that market. In September, Uruguay exported 17,276 tons of beef to China, marking a 32% growth from the 13,071 tons sent in the same month of 2024, according to INAC data. The average import price also showed a recovery, allowing the highest level of revenue since the peak of 2022 to be reached.
