A significant event has taken place in Honduras, marking the country's first export of whiteleg shrimp to China, weighing 36 tons. This milestone underscores the growing economic and trade relations between China and Honduras, further strengthened by their ongoing negotiations for a bilateral free trade agreement (FTA), with a specific focus on aquatic products. The agreement is set to expand China's access to Latin American shrimp supplies. The first shipment is part of 250 containers ready for export this month, marking an important achievement for Honduras since the establishment of diplomatic ties with China in March 2023 and the initiation of FTA discussions. This collaboration is expected to boost Honduran employment and living standards, showcasing the potential of their burgeoning partnership.
