Brazil: Honey exports grow 376% in Paraná ports

Paraná ports exported 3,847 tons of honey between January and July 2024, representing a growth of 376% compared to the same period last year (808 tons). The increase is well above the national average. Federal government data made available on Comex/Stat showed a 26% growth in Brazil, going from 16,823 tons in 2023 to 21,144 tons this year. “Beekeeping is a sustainable extractive activity that benefits fauna and flora and can generate several products, including honey, which is the most profitable,” commented CEO Luiz Fernando Garcia. After the pandemic, honey consumption in the United States, the main destination for Brazilian and Paraná honey, along with Canada, has been gradually resuming. On the other hand, the largest supplier of the commodity in the world, China, is facing problems with adulteration, which impacts the quality of the cargo.
