Iran: Honey production in West Azarbaijan anticipated to rise 10%

TEHRAN- Production of honey in West Azarbaijan province, in the northwest of Iran, is expected to increase by 10 percent in the current Iranian calendar year (ends on March 20, 2025), according to a provincial official. Parviz Bostanchi, the deputy head of the province’s Agriculture Department for improving livestock products, referred to the activity of 6,561 apiaries with 1,509,262 colonies in the province, and said: “It is expected that more than 26,000 tons of honey will be produced in the province this year, which will increase by 10 percent compared to last year.” West Azarbaijan produces 22 percent of honey and accounts for 13 percent of the honey bee colonies in the country, and in this respect, it ranks first nationwide, he further noted.
