Shea butter farmers in Kwara State, led by Hajia Memuna Yunusa, have found that bush burning can enhance the yields and management of the Shea butter trees, which they believe will result in a better harvest this season than the previous one. They have also learned that cutting down certain trees to increase air circulation can also improve production. The farmers are hopeful for a profitable season and have called on the state government to show more interest in Shea butter farming to reduce unemployment and increase the state's Internal Generated Revenue. They also shared that they have started selling the Shea butter seeds themselves after extracting some for personal use, and that the price has increased significantly since they have improved the extraction process.
