Egypt has seen a surge in interest in ostrich farming due to the potential for profit from the meat, skin, feathers, bones, and fat of the bird, as well as the eggs. The industry is still in its infancy, with one type of ostrich, the African ostrich, being raised locally. However, the cost of rearing the birds, which includes expensive feed and a specific temperature requirement, and the impact of unstable weather on egg production, present challenges. Ostriches require a significant amount of space and should not be kept near chicken and duck farms to prevent disease transmission.
