The Hungarian pork sector has received significant support through the Rural Development Program, with over 400 pig farming enterprises receiving a total of HUF 85 billion in development funds. An additional HUF 10.2 billion is allocated for animal welfare in pig fattening this year. Despite challenges such as import pressure, the domestic pig herd has seen a growth of nearly 100,000 in the past two years. Efforts are being made to promote pork consumption and highlight the product's nutritional values. In the past decade, annual pork consumption per person in Hungary has increased by almost 10 kilograms, reaching 30 kilograms, and a campaign to further promote Hungarian pork quality is set to launch.
