Rio, 04/11/2025 - The tariff imposed by United States President Donald Trump on Brazilian exporters again affected some segments of the Monthly Industrial Survey of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) in September.

The questionnaires referring to July and August had already shown some informants signaling the impact of the tariff in July on expectations for future production and, in August, on the actual reduction in production itself.

"We do indeed observe a higher frequency of companies reporting the tariff as a justification for their drop in production. Of course, it is a very small percentage within the universe of information," pondered André Macedo, manager of the IBGE survey.

According to the researcher, the tariff affects specific segments, such as the wood sector, for example.
