Brazil: Planted area in 2023/24 in São Paulo should reach 1.83 million hectares for 6 main crops

São Paulo, 12/26/2023 - The State of São Paulo must sow, in the 2023/24 harvest, 1.832 million hectares for the cultivation of peanuts, rice, water beans, first harvest corn, soybeans and water potatoes, area 0.9% above the 2022/23 harvest. The information is from the Institute of Agricultural Economics (IEA), of the São Paulo Department of Agriculture and Supply. Thus, peanuts should cover 173.7 thousand hectares, an area 2.5% smaller than the last harvest. Rice will cover 5.9 thousand hectares, an area 0.3% smaller, practically stable. Water beans must be sown in an area 1.5% smaller, with 42.5 thousand hectares. For summer corn, the cultivated area is expected to reach 301.8 thousand hectares, a decrease of 1.2%.
