Inspectors in the Czech Republic have shut down an unauthorized business producing mung bean sprouts under unhygienic conditions and without the necessary approval. The owner has been ordered to destroy the entire production (120 kg) and faces a fine. This is the second time the same house has been caught illegally producing sprouts in the past three years. In a separate incident, a warehouse in Prague was found to be storing nearly 200 kg of poultry meat of unknown origin, with non-compliant labeling and missing documentation. An inspection also revealed that chicken meat from Poland, used to make over a ton of chicken kebabs, was contaminated with Salmonella enteritidis. The supplier of the contaminated meat is expected to face a potential fine of up to CZK 50 million ($2.3 million) for the violation.
