The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and the Centre for Tropical Livestock Genetics and Health (CTLGH) have launched a real-time livestock monitoring app, replacing a simpler system under the African Asian Dairy Genetics Gains Project (AADGG). The app, available in Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Nepal, allows smallholder farmers to manage livestock health, feed, and breeding data in real-time, with a goal to boost productivity and support farmers. Developed with Unmiti, a Hyderabad-based software company, the app addresses regional digital agriculture gaps and is expected to lower data collection costs by shifting data entry to farmers.
