Vietnam's pepper exports have been on a downward trend for three consecutive months, with a total of 174,530 tons exported in the first nine months of 2022, a decrease of 18% in volume but an increase of 7.1% in value compared to the same period in 2021. The export volume decreased in most markets except for the US and Russia. Domestic pepper prices have also seen a significant drop. In the US, pepper imports from Vietnam increased by 45.5% in value over the same period in 2021, accounting for 73% of the total US pepper imports in the first eight months of 2022. China, the world's largest pepper consumer, has seen a decrease in pepper import turnover, with Vietnam becoming its largest supplier in August 2022.
