Imported strawberries in Moldova: Everything is earlier, everything is cheaper

Last week, the supply of imported (Greek) garden strawberries increased sharply in retail stores and retail markets in Moldova. The retail price varies widely from 130-150 lei/kg, $7.29-8.41/kg (spontaneous hawker trade and stationary markets) to 160-180 lei/kg, $8.97-10.10/kg (network and boutique retail), EastFruit specialists report. Some chain stores are already offering discounts on this product, resulting in the store price being reduced to the same level as the market price. In most cases, the berry looks almost perfect: large, regular in shape, evenly and brightly colored. The taste has a “cucumber” aroma and consistency, which is not strange for early greenhouse strawberries.
