Between January and August 2024, Spain experienced a notable increase in vegetable imports, with volumes rising by 10% to 1.3 million tonnes and value increasing by 16% to 1,031 million euros, compared to the same period in the previous year. Potatoes remained the most imported vegetable, seeing a 13% rise in volume and a 21% increase in value. Tomatoes also saw an increase, with a 3% rise in value. However, fruit imports experienced a 4% drop in quantity but a 7% rise in value. The most imported fruits were bananas, avocados, and oranges, with bananas seeing a 1.5% increase.
