Imports of 2,000 tonnes of mandarins and lemons with pesticides have been suspended in Bulgaria

Inspectors from the border control at the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) have detected and prevented the import into the territory of the EU, including Bulgaria, of more than 3165 tons of non-compliant food from third countries in the past 2021. For in comparison, just over 2,100 tonnes were seized throughout 2020. In the control carried out on the import of food of non-animal origin, at most - 1173 tons, tangerines were banned due to the content of pesticide residues. In second place is pepper.
