Imports of corn seeds into the Russian Federation are expected to decrease by 40.1% in 2023

In recent years, supplies of corn seeds from Hungary, one of the main suppliers, have been declining, while imports from Turkey have been increasing. An increase in supply volumes was observed until 2014, when the figure reached 46.6 thousand tons, compared to 5.5 thousand tons in 2002, due to the high demand for seeds. “In 2022, 32.7 thousand tons of corn seeds were brought to Russia, and by the end of 2023 this figure will drop to 19.6 thousand tons. Over the past 20 years, Hungary has been one of the main suppliers of corn seeds to Russia, but import volumes are falling, and this year they are expected to halve the 2022 level. The figure for imports from Serbia and EU countries, including France, Romania, and Germany, will decrease significantly. This year, Turkey will significantly increase its share in the Russian market; the volume of imports will double last year’s figure of 733 tons.
