Imports of kiwis in Morocco reach new heights

Record kiwifruit imports in the first quarter of 2023. Kiwi fruit imports continue to reach new highs in Morocco, according to a report by EastFruit. Thus, kiwis now rank among the five most imported fruits in the territory. The Moroccan agricultural sector is full of wealth and local farmers are involved in the production of various fruits and vegetables, including kiwis. Thanks to their ability to adapt to the climate, kiwis are successfully grown in Morocco and even exported. However, kiwifruit exports remain relatively low, with only 196 tonnes in 2022 and 43 tonnes in the first quarter of this year. These numbers pale in comparison to import volumes, which are steadily increasing year on year. Indeed, five years ago, Morocco only imported 4,500 tonnes of kiwis.
