In 2021, Ukraine experienced a significant increase in sparkling wine imports, with the country spending $ 54.7 million, a 44% rise from the previous year and 2.6 times more than five years earlier. The main suppliers were European countries like Italy (producers of Prosecco and Asti Spumante), France (Champagne), and Spain (Cava). Despite the high imports, Ukraine's domestic production could not compete, leading to only 40-45% of exports being Ukrainian-made sparkling wines, with the rest being re-exports of European wines. The total export value for sparkling wines reached approximately $ 7.9 million.
