In the 2021/22 marketing year, Kazakhstan's oilseed exports to the EU saw a significant increase of 39% from the previous season, amounting to 358.3 thousand tons, or 28% of its total oilseed exports. These exports primarily consisted of oilseeds (88%), with a minor share of meal and cake (11%), and vegetable oils (1%). The EU accounted for a notable market share in these exports, particularly with flax. The main importers were Belgium (52%) and Poland (27%), experiencing increases in imports compared to the previous season. Looking ahead, the export potential for the 2022/23 marketing year is projected to grow for oil flax seeds, sunflower seeds, and sunflower oil.
