In 2022, Ukraine saw a significant increase in the export value of oilseeds and fruits, with a 54% increase compared to 2021, reaching nearly USD 3.8 billion. This surge was led by a doubling of rapeseed and soybean supplies, and a multiple increase in sunflower exports. The European Union emerged as the leading buyer of these commodities, with countries like Romania, Turkey, and Poland becoming major importers. However, there was a decline in exports of soybean oil and rapeseed oil. Domestically produced sunflower oil remained a key export for Ukraine, with Poland becoming the top importer, replacing India, who had held this position for over a decade. Other countries like Turkey, Romania, and the Netherlands also showed significant import activities, together accounting for over 75% of the value of Ukrainian oil exports.
