Despite a drought in Europe, Morocco has broken a record for exporting cucumbers to Portugal, with shipments increasing year after year. In the 2022/23 season, Moroccan cucumber exports to Portugal reached over 2,000 tonnes, generating an estimated profit of $2.3 million. The drought in Portugal has led to a rise in vegetable imports, with Spain and Morocco being the main suppliers, and Morocco's cucumber exports to Portugal have increased tenfold in the past five years.
