During the 2023/24 marketing year, Ukraine emerged as a significant player in the global sugar market, exporting 691.8 thousand tons of sugar. The majority of these exports, accounting for 77%, were directed towards the European Union (EU), with Italy, Bulgaria, and Hungary being the primary importers. The remaining 23% was distributed to countries outside the EU, including Cameroon, Libya, and Turkey, making Ukraine's sugar exports reach over 30 countries worldwide.
