It is expected that global chickpea production will increase for the second consecutive year in 2025/26 as leading producers respond to growing domestic and international demand.
This is reported by Ukragrosconsult.
According to the forecast of the International Grains Council (IGC), in the new season, the global harvest of the grain legume crop will reach 17.8 million tons, which is 1.4% more than in 2024/25.
"Thanks to the high yield, which ensures abundant supply, total stocks at the end of the season are expected to increase during the forecast period," the IGC believes.
In addition, after a slight decrease in 2025, the volume of global trade in chickpeas will grow in 2026 by 4.2%, to 3.2 million tons.
