Global exports of soybean meal and cake are expected to increase by 1% to 82 million tons in the 2025/26 season due to rising consumption, driven by lower soybean meal prices compared to other feed ingredients.
"Although the growth will slow compared to the double-digit rates seen in the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons, this will be the third consecutive year of record soybean meal exports," reports the U.S. Department of Agriculture in its August review of the global oilseed market.
Over three years, global soybean meal exports have increased by almost a quarter. The price reduction, along with high demand for feed, has led to a significant increase in imports to many countries from 2023/24 to 2025/26, including Iran, the EU, Vietnam, and Mexico, according to the review.
