In Germany, a growth of over 20 percent is expected in the wheat harvest.

The wheat harvest in Germany this year is expected to increase by 21.1% compared to last year to 22.42 million tons, according to the regular monthly forecast for August by the German Association of Agricultural Cooperatives (DRV). In July, the industry organization had forecast a harvest of 21.56 million tons. The wheat harvest estimate has been raised despite the rains in July and August, when the grain was ripe and ready for harvest, as they caused less damage to the crops than expected. However, the quality of the wheat has suffered – lower protein content (although it remains higher compared to the 2024 level and varies greatly by region) and a lower Hagberg falling number, which is an important indicator in bread production.
