In June, exports of Vietnamese squid and octopus to the Chinese market surged by 87%.

According to data from the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), South Korea remains the largest export market for Vietnam's squid and octopus, with a total export value of $122 million, a year-on-year growth of 7%, accounting for 36% of the total. The main exported products include net squid, frozen whole octopus, and frozen processed octopus. The overall growth for CPTPP member countries is 20%, with Japan's import value reaching $83 million, a year-on-year growth of 21%, mainly focusing on squid for sushi, fried squid, and frozen octopus products. Exports to Mainland China and Hong Kong combined reached $34 million, a year-on-year growth of 15%, with Mainland China's import value in June 2025 surging 87% year-on-year, making it the most striking single growth figure.
