World Bread Day, observed on October 16, celebrates bread's role as a staple food and cultural unifier, established in 2006 by the International Union of Bakers and Pastry Chefs. The date aligns with the founding of the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization in 1945. Kazakhstan, participating since 2019, acknowledges its grain industry's contributions, exporting 2.4 million tons of wheat and producing over 2 million tons of flour in 2024. Domestic production satisfies local demand, with 329 thousand tons of fresh bread made in the first eight months of 2024. The country supports its grain processing sector through state measures, including preferential loans, under its Agro-Industrial Complex Development Concept for 2021-2030.
