Kazakhstan saw an 8.7% increase in the number of farms in 2022, according to the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms. As of January 1, 2023, the country had 248,602 registered farms, with 240,720 of these being active. The majority of these farms were registered in the Turkestan, Almaty, and Zhambyl regions. The agency also highlighted that the farming sector makes up 13.2% of the country's small and medium-sized businesses.
