In Lithuania, the purchase price of milk fell despite the protests of farmers

In Lithuania, the average purchase price of milk in February reached 37.5 euros per 100 kilograms, which is 15.4 percent less than in January, according to the EU Dairy Market Observatory. In the Baltic Republic, purchasing prices for milk have been falling for the fourth month in a row. The February price was the lowest since October 2021. During the year, compared to February 2022, raw milk prices in Lithuania decreased by 18.3 percent. In the European Union, the average average milk price in February was 54.8 euros, which is 2.7 percent less than in January and 28.9 percent more than a year ago. Given the current situation in the dairy industry, the Ministry of Agriculture proposes short-term measures to stabilize the industry.
