Vietnam's star anise exports have seen a significant downturn in the first quarter of this year, with a 27.7% decrease in volume and a 38.4% fall in value year-on-year, totaling 2,435 tons and 13.3 million US dollars. Despite this, India continues to be the largest importer, albeit with a 39% reduction in volume, and the United States follows with a 16% decline. Notably, March witnessed a surge in exports to India, reaching a record 998 tons worth 5.4 million US dollars, a 178% increase from the previous month. Star anise cultivation is concentrated in Vietnam's Lang Son and Cao Bang provinces, spanning 40,000 hectares and yielding over 16,000 tons annually.
