In Ordu, a drip system to protect hazelnut orchards from the threat of drought

Ordu Metropolitan Municipality, within the scope of the Hazelnut Productivity Project (FINVER) launched to increase productivity in hazelnuts and take measures against the threat of drought, is installing a subsurface drip irrigation system in hazelnut orchards. Led by Metropolitan Mayor Dr. Mehmet Hilmi Güler, the project, which is being carried out by the municipality's agricultural company ORTAR A.Ş., aims for a yield increase of up to 40 percent in hazelnuts. Thanks to the installed system, water is delivered directly to the root zone of the plants, ensuring both water savings and significant improvement in plant nutrition and product quality.
