Bird flu threatening Europe is the most severe in Poland

Although there is not as much of an epidemic as in previous years, there are warning signs in the resurgence of infections since the end of summer. In Poland, almost 1.5 million animals had to be killed on a single farm recently. The highly pathogenic (HPAI) avian influenza virus has been detected in more and more European poultry farms and farms since the middle of summer. Although the number of these in Europe remains low compared to previous epidemic years, the increase in the number of diseases along the coasts of the Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea and the Baltic Sea is alarming, especially the increase in the detection of highly pathogenic viruses in seabirds breeding in colonies.
