Based on market feedback, UCN has adjusted the FCA Oslo price assessment index, with 3-4kg head-on gutted (HOG) Atlantic salmon rising by NOK 1.0/kg to NOK 56.5/kg, while 6-7kg decreased by NOK 1.5/kg to NOK 64.5/kg.
From the historical price trend, the current price is still in the lower range, having rebounded somewhat compared to a month ago, but down by about NOK 6-10/kg compared to the same period last year.
In the U.S. market, the price of Norwegian Trim-D fillets hit the bottom and rebounded in the 33rd week, with supply and demand still not well matched, insufficient U.S. consumer demand, and relatively ample global market supply. Norwegian salmon sold to the U.S. is subject to a 15% tariff, higher than Canada and Chile, and buyers remain cautious, with any staged price increase being a gradual process.
In the 33rd week, the price of Chilean salmon sold to the U.S. market stabilized, with farms reporting relatively high production. The national holiday did not stimulate short-term prices, with some farms choosing to lower prices for sales, while others continued to target high-end customers, maintaining stable prices. Overall, the U.S. market performance remains weak demand, with many producers reporting oversupply.
Finally, Scottish salmon prices began to rebound from the bottom. According to processing plants, high-quality Scottish 5-6kg products are selling at £5.50/kg, and 6-7kg at £6.00/kg. Prices in the Grimsby area generally rose significantly compared to the previous week, with prices for 3-6kg ranging from £5.20/kg to £5.40/kg.
