The Astrakhan region is not experiencing any supply issues with tomato seeds or other vegetable crops, thanks to the work of the regional Ministry of Agriculture and Fishery Industry to reduce dependence on foreign seed material. The largest tomato-growing company in the region, Agroindustrial Complex Astrakhan LLC, has already secured contracts for 87% of the required crop seeds, and plans to increase their purchases to ensure timely field work. Despite earlier reports of shortages, the country as a whole is 60% supplied with its own seeds of open-ground vegetable crops, and is working towards using only Russian-bred seeds in the future.
