In the first half of 2024, Turkey experienced a notable increase in foreign exchange earnings in the dried fruit sector, despite a decrease in exports. The country's dried fruit exports fell from 227 thousand tons to 200 thousand tons, but the foreign exchange earnings rose by 15 percent to $829 million, thanks to a 30 percent increase in the export price per ton. Turkey is the global leader in the production and export of various dried fruits, including seedless raisins, dried apricots, dried figs, pistachios, almonds, pine nuts, roasted chickpeas, and walnuts. The country aims to reach a $1.8 billion export target for the year by focusing on quality and food safety. The USA has surpassed the UK to become Turkey's second-largest market for dried fruit, with a 45 percent increase in exports to $88 million. Other significant markets include Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Australia, Japan, Canada, and the Russian Federation.
