South Korean oyster exports to China have increased by nearly three times year-on-year, totaling US$2.7 million in the first 10 months of this year. China is seeking alternative sources of seafood supply following Japan's decision to discharge nuclear wastewater into the sea, creating an opportunity for South Korea to expand its share of the Chinese market. South Korean seafood exports to China are expected to reach US$900 million in 2022, surpassing combined exports to the United States and Japan, prompting Korean oyster processing companies to develop new products and improve competitiveness to enter the Chinese market.
