The Poltava region in Ukraine has seen a significant increase in the production of various agricultural and food products. The Department of Agroindustrial Development reported a surge in the production of liquid yoghurt and fermented milk by 41.7%, fresh unrefined sunflower oil by 6.3%, and sweet products and chocolate sweets by 4.2%. Other products such as unrefined sunflower oil, butter, and milk also saw an increase in production. The food industry is a major contributor to the regional economy, with product sales by food industry enterprises over the past three years averaging UAH 29.9 billion per year, peaking at UAH 30.3 billion in 2019, which accounts for 18% of the total industrial product sales in the region. The region is home to 18 sub-sectors within the food industry, including meat processing, sugar production, fat and oil processing, flour and groats production, fruit canning, bread and bakery product production, confectionery production, and mineral water and soft drink production.
